Head Coach - Gary McDaniel

Coach Gary McDaniel is beginning his second season as the Men’s Head Basketball Coach leading The Surge to a 29-5 record and 3rd place finish in the NJCAA Tournament.

 

Coach McDaniel plans to continue the winning tradition which should be accomplished after a successful recruiting effort this spring/summer. This year’s group contains more size experience and depth. Coach McDaniel adds “last year’s successful run has fueled the fire and increased the hunger to accomplish even more this season.

 

Besides coaching basketball, McDaniel serves as Director of Athletics.  He attended Cincinnati State and Xavier University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and two Master’s degrees in both Education and Counseling.  After earning All-Conference, All-District, All-City honors in high school, as well as becoming Princeton’s all-time leading rebounder, McDaniel played on the first championship team at Cincinnati Technical College.

Assistant Coach - Elgen Lamb

Coach “E” is entering his second year as an Assistant Men's BasketballCoach at Cincinnati State.  As a former student-athlete at Cincinnati State, he bleeds Surge green and is excited about working with the men’s team.  Coach “E” is employed full-time as a Corrections Officer in Clermont County.  His duties will include bench/practice coaching, recruiting and administrative assistance.

Assistant Coach - Seneca Herring

Seneca Herring is entering his second year as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Cincinnati State.  He is no stranger to the Mighty Surge.  Herring spent the past two years as the Assistant Game Day Coordinator for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

 

Herring was a Cincinnati State student/athlete in 1996 and 1997, and was a two-time captain, an all-conference and an all-region player.

 

Herring is employed full time by Project GRAD Cincinnati and is assigned to Western Hills University High School as a Scholarship Coordinator and College Seminar Teacher.

 

After attending Cincinnati State, Herring completed his Bachelors of Science in Mass Communication degree at the University of Rio Grande and is currently working towards earning his Master’s of Education in Sports Administration degree from Xavier University.

 

 

 

Assistant Coach - Otis Green

Coach “O” returns to The Surge for his second season. His primary duties include conditioning, practice and bench coaching.

 

Otis is employed full time with Delta Airlines.
