What is the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)?

 

The EOC program provides information and assistance for qualified adults who want to enter or continue a program of post secondary education.  An important function of the EOC is to assist participants in completing their Financial Aid applications.  The goal of EOC is to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary institutions.  We help students access the postsecondary program that best fits their needs and goals. EOC is funded through the U. S. Department of Education and all services are provided to program participants free of charge.

 

What Services Does EOC Provide?

 

Academic Assistance

·   ACT, Compass, and GED practice test administered

·   Referral to Adult Education Centers for GED assistance

·   Workshops on study skills and college survival issues

·   Referrals to Student Support Services

 

Career Exploration

·   Career assessments that help you match your interests, abilities, and values with specific career areas

·   Information regarding the job market, career projections, and appropriate training

 

Enrollment Advising

·   Assistance in identifying a four year college, community college or proprietary school that meets your needs

·   Assistance in completing applications for admissions and other enrollment forms

·   Referrals to persons at the school of your choice for assistance

·   Academic advice and assistance in course selection

 

Financial Aid Advising

·   Assistance with completing federal and state financial aid forms

·   Information regarding grants and scholarships

·   Assistance in understanding the paperwork with school financial aid policies

·   Assistance with resolving student loan default

 

Eligibility

·   United States citizenship or permanent resident status

·   Meet federal guidelines to demonstrate financial need

·   Age 19 or above

·   Veterans of any age qualify

·   Express a desire to enroll or is enrolled in a postsecondary education program

·   Participants must be a first generation college students
