Please fill out an application and have it notarized. Submit your application form with either a $55 money order or certified check (no cash) payable to Ohio Testing Services. How do I get a fee waiver?
You can obtain a fee waiver by taking the practice tests and earning the required scores. Many GED/ABLE sites give the GED practice test. Fee waivers can be obtained by taking the practice test at several places in the community including four (4) tech center locations which are Taft, East End, CAA, Winton Hills, and at many ABLE-GED sites including Queen City Vocational Center (363-6100), and Cincinnati State (569-1894). Fee waivers are valid for 120 days. If you are under the age of nineteen, you must have the Superintendent of the last school district you attended or the school district in which you currently reside sign off on the application prior to sending it into Columbus.
What do I need to bring with me to the test?
You need to bring valid picture identification, i.e. a driver’s license, an Ohio identification card, or a passport with you when you check in on the day of the test. A Social Security card or birth certificate cannot be used as identification.
How do I make an appointment?
You can call (513) 569-1831 to verify you are in the system and approved to test.
How long is the test?
The test may take from eight to nine hours. A candidate may take the test in a single day (Saturday) or on two separate days. Morning and Evening tests are given periodically at satellite sites.
What if I have special needs?
GED candidates can fill out a special form to request accommodations. This form can be picked up in room 261E or we can send it through the mail. These apply for both physical, emotional, and learning disabilities
May I retake the GED Test?
If you fail the test, you may retake it. You would need to pay another application fee of $55 or retake portions of the practice test to earn the $55 fee waiver. There may be a waiting period of from one to three months depending on the scores on your test. Please bring former test results. You can only attempt the GED three times per year.
When will I receive my results?
Results take three to four weeks. Your test results will be mailed to you from Columbus. If you live out of state, i.e. Indiana or Kentucky, you will not receive a diploma, only your scores. (Fee waivers from out of state cannot be used.)
