Catalog course description:

This training focuses on basic hazard recognition/risk assessment and defensive spill containment techniques.  This course is designed to meet the OSHA, EPA, NFPA & DOT training requirements for individual’s who handle or are exposed to hazardous substances.  A hazardous substance includes both hazardous material and hazardous waste.  References:  29 CFR 1910.120; NFPA 704M; NFPA 471; 49 CFR 100-177.

• OSHA HAZCOM (chemically safety)
• US DOT classes/labeling
• Spill Containment Techniques
• Basic Decontamination/Termination Procedures
• Basic Hazardous Waste Recognition/Labeling
• Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
• Chemical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Course Outcomes:

A competent individual who has the ability to respond and contain small to medium size spills.  This individual will possess the capability to recognize different types of hazardous material and hazardous waste and safely handle them.
