Audio/Video Production (AVP)
The Audio/Video Production program prepares students to create and manipulate digital audio, video, and graphic images. Career destinations for AVP graduates could include broadcast or cable television or other entertainment industries; Web or multimedia development companies; or media production departments in corporate, medical, or industrial settings.
Currently a significant number of courses required for the degree are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday. Some of the required courses also are offered in the evening or on weekends.
Graduates will have skills
in the following areas:
• Operate and maintain digital audio and video equipment and hardware including cameras, microphones, cables, and computers
• Use industry-standard software applications for digital audio and video editing, including AVID, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, and After Effects
• Use Web languages and tools such as HTML and Flash
• Apply basic skills for 2-D and 3-D software
applications including Photoshop, Illustrator
and Maya

Transfer Prospects:
Graduates of the AVP program who wish to continue their education in baccalaureate programs in Digital Media, Multimedia, Broadcasting, Film, or other related areas should be able to make this transition easily. Formal articulation agreements with some four-year institutions are expected to be completed soon.

Co-op Salaries:
$8.00-$9.00/hour. Some starting positions are unpaid internships.
Employment Outlook:
Nationally, employment of audio and video technicians is expected to grow slowly through the year 2008. People seeking entry-level jobs are expected to face strong competition in major metropolitan areas.
