Multimedia and Web Design

 

 

 

Multimedia and Web Design (MWEB) students learn to design and develop websites, CDs, DVDs, kiosks, and other multimedia products incorporating text, images, and other media elements, for commercial, informational, promotional, and other purposes.  Students develop proficiency using HTML and other industry-standard languages and software applications.

Currently a significant number of courses required for the degree are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Some of the required courses also are offered in the evening or on weekends. 

 

Graduates will have skills

in the following areas:

• plan, design, implement, test, and maintain effective products for distribution on the World Wide Web or in other forms of multimedia

• use industry-standard languages including HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• use industry-standard tools including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, and Director

• contribute to Web and multimedia design and development teams in corporations, small businesses, public agencies, and many other work settings

 

Job Titles for Graduates:

Web Designer or Developer

User Interface (UI) Designer

Web Content Designer

 

Transfer Prospects:

Graduates of the MWEB program who wish to continue their education in baccalaureate programs in Digital Media, Multimedia Design, Computer Information Design, or other related areas should be able to make this transition easily. Formal articulation agreements with some four-year institutions are anticipated in the future.

Co-op Salaries:

$8.00-$12.00/hour

 

Employment Outlook:

Good, although employers are seeking higher levels of skill and expertise from their employees.  Employers continue to seek employees with strong technical, interpersonal, and business skills.

 

Graduate Salary Projections:

$28,000-$35,000
