Frequently Asked
Questions

Who is eligible for tutoring?

Any student enrolled at Cincinnati State
Technical and Community College may
receive free tutoring assistance.

Who are the tutors?

Tutors are students from Cincinnati State
Technical and Community College who have
received an "A" or "B" in their course
work. Tutors are interviewed, trained, and
hired upon the recommendation of the
faculty members at Cincinnati State
Technical and Community College. If you
meet these requirements and would like to
be a tutor, please come to Room 261 and
fill out an application.

How soon will I get a tutor?

After completing your application, a two-day
waiting period will be needed in order to
process your paperwork. Only after this time
should you return to Room 261 to check
confirmation of your tutoring status. Also,
you may call us at (513) 569-1614.

What subjects are tutored?

Tutoring can be provided for most courses when
students request assistance.

What kind of help will tutors give?

They must have the ability to share ideas,
interpret and clarify terms, and guide their
student's efforts. However, they will not "do
your homework". They may answer questions and
explain terms and concepts, but may not correct
written work before it is turned in. Academic
success depends on the amount of effort given
by the student. Attend class regularly, read the
textbook, be prepared for tutoring sessions, have
relevant questions, and complete all homework
assignments.

How often can I see my tutor?

The limit is one hour a week per subject. You may
select up to two subjects per term.

How many weeks will tutoring be offered per term?

All tutoring services end the ninth week of the term.

What if I cannot make a session?

To cancel a session, you must notify the Tutoring Center
(569-1614) at least 24 hours before the scheduled session
in order to avoid being terminated from the services.

We are here to help students by providing academic
assistance. Tutors are expected to be knowledgeable
and dependable, and they are committed to helping
students achieve academic success. Tutors have shown
