The following strategies and action plan  can assist the undecided student.

Visit the Counseling Office located in Room 168, Main Building, to schedule an appointment with a counselor for assistance with your choice of a major.

Begin using the interactive computerized career information system Choices Planner to explore your interests, skills, values and discover how these factors connect to majors and career choices. This system helps with all major aspects of the career decision making and planning through user-friendly interfaces.

The Counseling Office provides support for exploring various careers through conversations with faculty, web sites, students in specific majors, workshops, and computerized information system.

Attend the College Information Session on Tuesday morning or evening at Cincinnati State. An academic advisor or representative can address concerns such as curriculum requirements.

Arrange informational interviews with professors, friends, family, peers, colleagues, employers, and alumni to learn more about a particular career field you are considering. Talk to them about your skills and abilities.

Read the Cincinnati State College catalog for majors and program descriptions and requirements.

Periodically check the bulletin boards on campus for career related or educationally related workshops.

Obtain a copy of the information booklets from Business, Health, Engineering, Information Technologies and the Humanities/Sciences divisions to learn more about the type of work graduates will be prepared to do, job titles for graduates, co-op salary, graduate starting salary, job projections and related majors. Discover and develop your values, interests, and skills by participating in campus activities, volunteer work, internships, cooperative education, college work-study, part-time employment, job shadowing.

If internal or external stresses are interfering with your ability to take action, individualized personal counseling may help you learn to cope and focus more easily on your career concerns.
