EC Credit. If you are seeking credit for a Cincinnati State course required for your program, some Cincinnati State courses are available for credit by way of an internal ‘test out’ procedure. Current courses for which this option is available are listed in the current Cincinnati State Catalog. If you need additional information about the test out, you should contact the faculty member listed in the Catalog as the ‘test out’ monitor. Courses not listed in the Catalog do not provide a test out option.
o You cannot earn credit through an exam for a course you have already completed at Cincinnati State. For this purpose, a course is defined as ‘completed’ if you received a grade of A, B, C, D, F, S, U or W.
o If you are already enrolled in a course and you plan to try to ‘test out,’ you must drop the course before you take the test. The course must be dropped no later than the 14th calendar day of the term. You must pay the fee due before you attempt the ‘test out’. If you pass the exam your division dean must approve and initiate a request for a refund of tuition fees if this applies to you.
o You may attempt to ‘test out’ of a class only once. If you do not pass the exam, you cannot take it again.
To apply for EC credit, you must submit one petition and fee for each ‘test out’ you attempt. The fee for EC credit is the amount of one tuition credit. This is a testing fee; it is not refundable if you do not pass the test.
