The Certified Medication Aide Program focuses on teaching Nurse Aides basic anatomy, physiology and pharmacology knowledge and skills needed to administer medications as allowed by law. The certificate includes at least 80 hrs of lecture and lab practice and 40 hours of clinical. Upon completion of the program students will receive a certificate that allows them to sit for the Board exam and apply to the Board of Nursing for Licensure. CMAs practice under the supervision of a licensed nurse in Nursing Homes and/or Residential Care Facilities passing routine medications. The course will be divided into a classroom course that will receive a grade and the clinical portion that will be pass/fail. The certificate courses must be completed within the 90 business days allowed by law and students must sit for their Boards within 60 days of completing the certificate program.
