Cincinnati State is accredited by the North Central Association and generally accepts transfer credit from any other regionally accredited college or university. Because of the number of transfer students applying to the college, a formal credit evaluation cannot be provided until after the admission process has been fully completed. Please allow ample time for an evaluation of transfer credit as this process may take some time. An official copy of each college transcript must be mailed directly to Cincinnati State. Hand carried transcripts are not accepted.
The steps to the admission process for transfer students are as follows:
1) Fill out an application. Apply online or dowload an application and send it to us: PDF Application.pdf
2) If you are a high school graduate, have your high school mail an official transcript directly to Cincinnati State. Please do not hand-carry it. If you are a GED holder you must also submit a copy of your GED test scores to the Admission Office.
3) Have an official transcript sent to the Office of Admission from each college or university attended and for which you would like to have credit transferred to Cincinnati State. Again, please note that an official evaluation of your transcript can not be done by the Cincinnati State Registrar until you have been fully admitted and spoken with your advisor. Note that if you are a college graduate, you do not need to have your high school transcript mailed to Cincinnati State. Instead you can simply have an official copy of your college transcript mailed to the college.
4) Plan to take the Compass Placement test administered at the College. Testing consists of writing, reading, and mathematics. Note that if you have already taken college courses in algebra and or English and received a grade of C or better, you may qualify to have part or all of the Compass test waived. Simply fill out a Compass Waiver and submit it with your application. Your waiver request will be evaluated once we have received each part of your application.
Note: Financial Aid is not activated until all three of the above-mentioned steps are completed prior to the term you are seeking admission.
If you are not seeking a degree or certificate, you do not need to submit this application, transcripts, or take the placement test.
