In accordance with the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, the Department of Public Safety has established this page to alert the Cincinnati State community of crimes that have occurred recently or information regarding situations that may endanger the public.
Watch your Books!!
(January 18, 2006)
By far, larceny/theft is the largest type of crime experienced on the Cincinnati State campus. Most of these crimes involve the theft of personal property, largely textbooks.
Anytime you are on the Cincinnati State campus, please make sure to keep an eye on your books. Never leave your books unattended. Never entrust your books to someone you do not know. Always keep your books at your side or within close reach. These same guidelines also apply to other personal property such as purses or wallets.
You should make every atempt to mark, or otherwise identify, your property. Pick a page in your textbook that has some significance to you and place a distinctive mark on that page. This mark will help Public Safety is tracking down and returning your property to you.
Please be aware that criminals are looking for an opportunity to deprive you of your property. Don't give them that opportunity!
Please feel free to contact the Department of Public Safety at (513) 569-1558 for additional hints on protecting your property.
