Faculty/Staff Parking
Regulations

The goal of the Department of Public Safety is to utilize all available parking resources for the benefit of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

For the purposes of this policy, the term "Faculty and Staff" means all full-time, part-time, casual pool and adjunct faculty and staff members.  This term does not apply to co-ops or work study students.

Parking Permit & SurgeCard

A Cincinnati State faculty/staff parking permit and SurgeCard is required to park anywhere on campus.  Faculty and staff parking permits can be obtained from the Department of Public Safety located in room 7 of the Main building.  SurgeCards may be obtained from the Student Activities Office, located in room 204 of the ATLC.

Fulltime faculty and staff will be issued a permanent parking privilege, valid for the length of their employment with the College.  Adjuncts and part-time staff are issued temporary privileges that must be renewed every term.  Any adjunct or part-time staff member who has been employed by the College for more than two years is eligible for a permanent parking pass, valid for the length of their employment with the College.

Any faculty or staff member who ends their employment with the College must return their parking permit to the Public Safety office.

Faculty & Staff Parking Areas

All parking areas require a permit and a SurgeCard parking privilege.

Reserved Parking

Many parking spots in Lot D are reserved for specific faculty and staff members and are marked with the individual’s last name, either on an adjacent wall or on the parking stop at the front of the spot.  These spots are reserved Monday through Friday from 6:30am until 4:00pm.  Parking in a reserved spot during these hours will result in a parking citation.

Note: The College has abandoned the practice of reserved parking and does not issue any new reserved parking spots.

Visitor Parking

Visitors to the College are permitted to park in either of the parking garages.  There is a $2 charge for parking in these facilities.

Handicapped Parking

Handicapped parking spaces are lined in blue and are provided around the main building and in both parking garages.  These spaces are available to handicapped faculty, staff, students and visitors.  A valid state-issued handicapped placard must be displayed when parking on campus.  Students are also required to purchase a Cincinnati State term parking permit.

Motorcycle Parking

Motorcycle parking is permitted at the end of the main building, just off the front drive.  All motorcycles must be registered with the Department of Public Safety in room 7 of the Main building.

Daycare Parking

A Daycare Permit, available from the Daycare Center, is required to park in the Daycare parking spaces.  Parking is restricted to 20 minutes.

Bicycles

Bicycles should only be secured to the bicycle rack located by the entrance to the Ludlow Garage.  Bicycles should not be chained to trees or light poles.

Motorist Assistance

The Department of Public Safety offers limited assistance with roadside emergencies.  Officers can help with dead batteries and keys locked in a vehicle.  These services are provided free-of-charge.  For assistance please call (513) 569-1558.

Emergencies

Emergency telephones are located near all parking areas and in both parking garages.  These phones are monitored by Public Safety 24-hours a day.  Additional assistance is available by calling 861-8888.

Parking Permit Regulations

  1. If a parking permit is lost, stolen, or needs replacement, please report it to the Department of Public Safety as soon as possible.
  2. Permits must be displayed on the rear-view mirror.
  3. Permits are not transferable.
  4. Permits cannot be shared.
  5. Permits must be displayed at all times while on Cincinnati State property.

 Other Restrictions

  1. Drivers are not permitted to “add” spaces at the end of a parking row.  Such actions will result in a citation being issued.  If the violation presents an obstacle to emergency vehicles or delivery trucks, the vehicle may be towed, at the owner’s expense.
  2. Drivers shall not block any portion of the roadway with their vehicle.  Such actions prevent access by emergency vehicles and, accordingly, the vehicle may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Violations Citation Procedure

The Department of Public Safety enforces College parking regulations.  Any violation can result in a citation being issued.  Citations must be paid or appealed with ten (10) business days from the date of issue.  After that time, the ability to appeal will be lost.

Any citation not paid or appealed within ten (10) business days of issue will double in cost, and the vehicle is subject to impoundment.  After thirty (30) days from issue, any unpaid citations will automatically be forwarded to the driver’s Dean, as well as the College Human Resources office.  Repeated or serious violations could result in loss of campus parking privileges, towing of the vehicle, and/or impoundment at the owner’s expense.

Ignorance of College parking policy is not an excuse for operating or parking in violation.

Citations are payable at the Cashier’s office or they may be mailed to:

Cincinnati State Technical & Community College

Attn: Cashier’s Office

3520 Central Parkway

Cincinnati, OH 45223

Parking Violations

A complete listing of all current parking violations is available in the Public Safety office, room 7, Main building.

Citation Appeal Procedure

Any ticket issued by the Department of Public Safety can be appealed by filling out a Parking Citation Appeal Form.  Parking Citation Appeal Forms can be picked up from the Public Safety office, located in room 7 of the main building, or downloaded from the Forms portion of the College website.  The form must be completed and submitted within ten (10) business days after the ticket was issued.

All appeals are forwarded to an Appeals Committee.  The findings of the Appeals Committee are final.
