Linking to OhioLINK
Resources

The electronic resources available through the Johnnie Mae Berry Library and OhioLINK are licensed resources.  These licenses include the ability to share these materials through electronically enhanced classes.  OhioLINK databases come from a variety of sources.  The process for providing these links differes somewhat from source to source.  If you have question about copyright/licensing issues, or technical issues about providing the links, please contact Debbie Bogenschutz (debbie.bogenschutz@cincinnatistate.edu, x1611) or Kathy O'Gorman (kathryn.ogorman@cincinnatistate.edu, x1695.)

Instructions for linking to specific OhioLINK resources:

EBSCO Databases:

  • Locate one or more articles within an EBSCO database.
  • Click on the "Add to Folder" icon for each article you wish to include.
  • Click on "Save to disk."  This will open a "Save Manager."
  • From the "Save Manager" screen, click on the "Links" tab.
  • Save.
  • The next screen will display the bibliographic citations, and the URLs for the articles you have chosen.  These URLs will work on campus only.  To use these URLs off-campus, you must insert this proxy address:

http://web.archive/web/2004022612253/

http://proxy.ohiolink.edu:9099/login?url=

  • Note:  These links will take you to the citation and abstract for the articles.  From there, you will click on the link to the full-text.  It would be a violation of the license for the full-text to be included in your website or within your Blackboard materials.

Electronic Journal Center:

  • Locate an article in the Electronic Journal Center.
  • Click on "Article descrption."
  • Copy the URL from the address bar from the page with the article description.  Do not copy the address from the full-text to the article itself.
  • On campus users will be directed to the article description, and will link to full-text from there.  Off-campus uses will be asked to supply institution, name, and barcode numbers first.

You will not be able to link directly to articles from LexisNexis Academic or Social Issues Researcher (SIRS), but both are searchable off campus.  Some other databases will link to the full-text from the EBSCO databases or the Electronic Journal Center.  Follow the links above to provide links for these articles.

OhioLINK's Digital Video Collection:

Videos covering a wide range of fields are available from OhioLINK's Digital Video Collection.  Videos are available for diret viewing from the Web, or for downloading for temporary storage.

  • Identify the film you wish your students to view
  • The description page will provide a unique URL to that specific video.  This page can be bookmarked, or this address can be copied to your assignment sheet, or into your online course.
  • Free software called RealPlayer, available from http://www.real.com can be used to view the videos.

ImagesMD

  • Instructors may use these images in their classes.  They can be added to password-protected websites, such as a blackBoard class, or printed for classroom handouts.
  • Images are copyrighted by Current Medicine LLC and copies on handouts and websites must be attributed to ImagesMD and have notice of copyright.
  • Additional information can be found at http://www.images.md/users/help_faq.asp.
