Becoming a Registered User
of the Johnnie Mae Berry Library

Your Cincinnati State SURGE ID card has a barcode printed on the back.  This BARCODE makes you a registered user and enables you to check out books, request books from OhioLINK libraries, and use electronic resources that are restricted to registered users.  Please bring your SURGE card with you when you visit the Library, and have it handy when you are using Library resources via the internet.

Distance students taking classes using Blackboard or other electronically purveyed methods of instruction are also entitled to these library services.  If you are not taking classes on campus, send a message to rdl@cincinnatistate.edu and your barcode will be mailed to you.  You will then have access to all electronic resources.  Distance students in other parts of Ohio will be able to register at the library of an OhioLINK institution convenient to them, and then have books delivered to that library.  Special arrangements can be made to deliver books to distance students outside Ohio.

Distance students can receive assistance through e-mail or chat reference.

SURGE ID cards are required for all students, faculty, and staff.  They are available at the Student Activities Office, Room 204 of the Advanced Technology Learning Center (ATLC).
