Joani Lacy discusses “Hollister House”
March 26, 2009
Joani Lacy is probably best known in Cincinnati for her performances with the band she and her husband front, Robin Lacy & DeZydeco. Not only does she sing and play the rubboard in the Cajun-oriented band, she also writes songs.
Joani visited Cincinnati State on March 25 to talk with students and faculty about a performance of a more enduring, and more personal, type: fiction writing. She recently published a full-length novel, “Hollister House,’’ a ghostly story set in a decayed Victorian mansion shaded by an ancient Banyan tree.
Joani told students that such long form writing is an arduous process, one that required considerable discipline and a willingness to take risks. But it is also a rewarding process, she said – so much so that she’s already at work on a sequel.
After her talk, held in the auditorium of the ATLC, Lacy signed copies of her book, which is available through www.robinlacy.com.
