Two recent graduates from the chemical technology program at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College have been honored by one of the industry’s leading support organizations.
The American Chemical Society gave Chemical Technology Student Recognition Awards to Brandy Sturgeon and Andrea Henderson.
Sturgeon, a Taylor Mill, Ky., resident, is now employed by the Cintas Corp., where she had worked as a co-op student while at Cincinnati State. Henderson, a Bridgetown resident, is employed by Peter Cremer North America, LP in Cincinnati.
Founded in 1876, the American Chemical Society is today the world’s largest scientific society and one of the leading international sources of authoritative scientific information. It serves more than 158,000 members, primarily chemists, chemical engineers and those in related professions. The society hosts research conferences, publishes scientific journals, maintains databases, funds research and scholarships, and sponsors programs and educational services for policy makers and the general public.
The American Chemical Society Chemical Technology Student Recognition Award Program was launched in 2004. Awards are given to “outstanding upper-level chemical technology students who demonstrate a high level of performance in the laboratory and the classroom, excellent oral and written communication skills, integrity and reliability.’’
