Cincinnati State awards Honors scholarship students

Honors Experience Award Ceremony 1

Cincinnati State recently held a ceremony for students who have earned Honors Experience Scholarships and other awards of excellence.

The Honors Experience scholarships pay not only for tuition, but also fees and books – nearly the entire cost of attending Cincinnati State. They are among the more than 50 named scholarships offered annually at Cincinnati State, and are an important part of an effort to convince the families of academically gifted students to review the wealth of educational offerings at Cincinnati State.

This year's scholarship recipients include:

  • Sarah Eubanks, Bethel, Ohio
    Bethel-Tate High School (Grant Technical Center)
    Anticipated major: Occupational Therapy Assisting Technology
     
  • Katie L Kilgore, Bethel, Ohio
    Bethel-Tate High School (Grant Technical Center)
    Anticipated major: Nursing
     
  • Katherine D. Kroeger, Amelia, Ohio
    Bethel-Tate High School (Grant Technical Center)
    Anticipated major: Pastry Arts Technologies
     
  • Chelsea Pennington, Bethel, Ohio
    Bethel-Tate High School (Grant Technical Center)
    Anticipated major: Clinical Laboratory Technologies
     
  • Evan R. Rees, Sidney, Ohio
    Sidney High School
    Anticipated major: Mechanical Engineering Technology Design
     
  • Jessie J. Rust, Amelia, Ohio
    New Richmond High School (Grant Technical Center)
    Anticipated major: Mechanical Engineering Technology Design

  • Jason Heyl, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and
    Electro Mechanical Engineering Technology – Laser
  • Aurora A. Patag, Culinary Arts
  • Jacob Jones, Associate of Science
  • Navid Seyed Matin, Associate of Science

As “Graduating Members of the Honors Experience”:

  • Joshua Monroe, Associate of Science
  • Alyssa L. Roll, Multimedia and Web Design
  • Kelsey Forsee, Associate of Science


Additionally, a select group of students were honored with “Spirit of Leonardo” awards, each having unique meanings:

  • Jason Heyl:
    Sfumato (a willingness to embrace ambiguity, paradox and uncertainty)
  • Navid Seyed Matin:
    Dimostrazione (a commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistence and a willingness to learn from mistakes)
  • Joshua Monore:
    Curisota (an insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning)
  • Aurora Patag:
    Connessione (a recognition of and appreciation for the interconnectivenss of all things and phenomena)
  • Alyssa Roll:
    Arte/Scienza (the development of the balance between art and science, logic and imagination)
