Cincinnati State horticulture student wins scholarship
October 4, 2010
Nikol Soluski, a student at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, has been awarded a scholarship by the Perennial Plant Association in recognition of her academic performance and potential contributions to the industry.
Soluski, a Corryville resident, is a second-year student majoring in Horticulture with a minor in Landscape Design.
She is a member of the Cincinnati State Horticulture Club, the Greater Cincinnati Hosta Society, the Village Green Foundation and PLANET (an international association serving lawn care professionals, landscape management contractors, design/build/installation professionals, and interior plantscapers).
In addition to serving a horticultural internship with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Soluski has taken on 11 clients in her own landscape design business, which she began on a volunteer basis.
Soluski was one of five students from across the country to receive a $1,000 scholarship award and recognition plaque during the 2010 Perennial Plant Symposium in Portland, Oregon.
The awards were made by a panel of professional educators and industry representatives.
