Cincinnati State hosts Naturalization Ceremony
(5/18/11) More than 100 men and women became naturalized U.S. citizens during a recent ceremony at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
U.S. District Court Judge J. Gregory Wehrman swore in 102 new citizens from 43 nations, in what has become an annual event at Cincinnati State. This year, as in the past, hundreds of family members, friends and children came to the Clifton campus for the ceremony, where they were welcomed by President O’dell M. Owens and members of the Cincinati State family.
This year’s event included performances by the International Folk Dancers of Cincinnati, the Fifth Grade Choir from Our Lady of Visitation School and Cincinnati State staff member Marcia Caulton (a vocalist), as well as refreshments for the families. Members of Cincinnati State’s Early Childhood Education program were on hand with a supply of toys and good will for the children.
The naturalization ceremony was sponsored by the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) and the Humanities and Sciences Divisions at Cincinnati State.
