Dr. Nick Nissley, the former executive director of leadership development programs for The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, has been named dean of the Business Technologies Division at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
In his position at Cincinnati State he will supervise a division that enrolls more than 2,500 students and takes in programs ranging from accounting to information management to the Midwest Culinary Institute.
Nissley, a native of Pennsylvania, earned his bachelor’s degree in geology and mineralogy from The Ohio State University in 1989, a master’s degree in management from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio, in 1993 and an EdD in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University in 1999.
At the Banff Centre – a premier art, culture and education center in the Canadian Rockies – Nissley was responsible for leading approximately 50 faculty members and the delivery of more than 60 programs annually at a site that has become known as a premier destination for executive leadership training events.
Much of Nissley’s research and professional work has involved educational innovation and management education. Widely-published in academic journals, he has also been involved with the design of the PhD program in Leadership and Change at Antioch University, delivery of the doctoral program in organization development at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis (where he taught for three years) and the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa. (where he served as chief learning officer and later as Vice President for Workforce and Organization Effectiveness).
Nissley also has served as an adjunct faculty member in leadership development programs abroad, including the Copenhagen Business School-Aarhus University MA program in Leadership & Innovation and Oxford University’s Strategic Leadership Programme. At a semi-professional level he has acted in plays and participated in improvisational theater productions in Canada, Denver, London and elsewhere.
Nissley and his family reside in Hyde Park.
