Cincinnati State to host Honors Experience Open House Nov. 18

Cincinnati State to host Honors Experience Open House Nov. 18Cincinnati State Technical and Community College will hold a reception and Open House on Nov. 18 for high school students interested in learning about Cincinnati State’s Honors Experience program. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Main Campus.

The Honors Experience is a complement to Cincinnati State’s academic offerings, which in some instances are drawing national attention.

Cincinnati State offers more than 75 associate degree and 40 certificate programs in business technologies, health and public safety, engineering technologies, humanities and sciences and information technologies. Among other things, Cincinnati State is home to the Midwest Culinary Institute, a burgeoning renewable energy program and a sustainable design program that recently won top honors from the U.S. Green Building Council for community colleges.

High school graduates admitted to the Honors Experience program are eligible to apply for one of the six honors scholarships awarded each year to participants. These merit scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, fees and books.

The Honors Experience also offers enhanced educational opportunities to academically talented, highly motivated students who are admitted to the program. It provides co-curricular enrichment opportunities and social activities designed to create a learning community that supports academic excellence and student success, while fostering close relationships with faculty. Honors participants have special designations on their transcripts.

The Nov. 18 Open House is designed for high school juniors and seniors, as well as teachers and family members. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the College and meet faculty and students involved with the Honors Experience.
