October 28, 2008
The board of trustees of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College voted Tuesday to ratify a proposed contract with faculty members represented by the American Association of University Professors.
Members of the Cincinnati State chapter of the AAUP had voted Saturday to accept the proposal.
“Faculty members are glad to have achieved an agreement that maintains appropriate standards for defining faculty work,’’ said Paul Davis, president of the AAUP chapter at Cincinnati State.
“We are pleased that contract talks have reached a consensus conclusion within the financial parameters set by the board,’’ said Dr. John Henderson, interim president of Cincinnati State.
The three-year agreement, retroactive to Sept. 1, 2008, provides a 3.25 percent pay hike in 2008-09, 3.25 percent the following year and 3.5 percent the final year.
At the same time, it increases the employee share of health care premiums, now 5 percent, to 6 percent.
The new agreement also stipulates that faculty members will receive a one-time, $550 lump sum payment.
