Cincinnati State’s 2011 ArtsWave campaign sets school record
May 9, 2011
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College raised more than $14,000 for the 2011 ArtsWave Campaign, President O’dell M. Owens reported today.
As important as the dollar amount, he said, was the participation rate, which this year reached 27.5 percent. That is nearly triple Cincinnati State’s 9.8 percent average participation rate over the past five years.
“A thriving arts environment creates unexpected benefits to everyone in the community and is an essential element of a healthy and vibrant region,” Dr. Owens said, in a letter to Cincinnati State students, faculty and staff.
“Your openhearted gift will contribute to the vitality of our region, creating communities that instill pride and connect people within and across neighborhoods,’’ Dr. Owens wrote. “Thank you for making this the best year ever since the start of Cincinnati State’s participation in the campaign. Your kind giving ties us even closer with the community as a whole.”
Cincinnati State’s goal for the 2011 ArtsWave campaign was $11,500. The final tally was $14,421.25.
ArtsWave officials are scheduled to announce the results of their 2011 Community Campaign on April 27. Last year the organization, formerly known as the Fine Arts Fund, raised $11 million from 40,000 donors, more than any other united arts campaign in the country.
