Cincinnati State’s Spring Term enrollment sets all-time record
May 5, 2011
Cincinnati State’s enrollment has reached a new Spring Term record, President O’dell M. Owens announced today.
As of the close of the official reporting period for the 2011 Spring Term, which began April 18, enrollment stood at 10,901.
That represents an increase of 2.3 percent over the same period in 2010.
“This is an encouraging development on several levels,’’ Dr. Owens said. “It shows that the good news about Cincinnati State is starting to get out. It also shows that, even in a tough economy where money is tight, individuals are sticking with their plans to improve their lives through education.’’
A detailed analysis of the enrollment data also shows that students are increasingly focusing on courses and programs that lead directly to employment, and that more are attending Cincinnati State on a part-time basis, Dr. Owens said. “What this tells me is our students are going to tough it out,’’ he said.
Among the other highlights of the enrollment survey:
- The number of part-time students rose to 7,443, or 68 percent of total enrollment, in the 2011 Spring Term, compared to 6,831, or 64 percent, in the 2010 Spring Term.
- The number of students seeking certificates (generally associated with job-oriented, shorter-term training programs) rose from 1,457 in the 2010 Spring Term to 1,611 in the current term, an increase of 10.6 percent.
- In terms of credit hour enrollment, the leading division at Cincinnati State is Humanities, followed by Health and Public Safety and Business Technologies.
