Deadline is approaching for Honors Experience, other scholarships
February 11, 2011
Of all the scholarships offered at Cincinnati State each year, few are more prized than the six awarded annually in conjunction with the Honors Experience.
The Honors Experience scholarships pay not only for tuition, but also fees and books – nearly the entire cost of attending Cincinnati State.
The Honors scholarships are among the more than 50 named scholarships offered annually at Cincinnati State. They are a key part of an effort to convince the families of academically gifted students to take a serious look at the wealth of educational offerings at Cincinnati State in fields ranging from environmental engineering technologies to web design to the culinary arts to health care to “transfer degrees’’ that tie in with bachelor’s programs at four-year institutions.
The Honors Experience touches nearly all aspects of life at Cincinnati State. Students who participate in the Honors Experience may, for example:
- Benefit from priority registration when signing up for classes.
- Enroll in Honors courses, including English composition, American History, psychology, public speaking, microeconomics, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking, sociology, environmental geology, and literature.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary Honors Colloquiums. In the 2010-11 Academic Year, the topics include “Wildness and Wilderness” and “Cincinnati: The Once and Future City.’’
- Supplement their studies with social and cultural activities on campus and in the Greater Cincinnati community
Minimum requirements for admission to the Honors Experience include an ACT score of 26, an SAT score of 1140, a high school GPA of 3.25 and a class rank in the top 20 percent.
