He began his career working for Wright Patterson Air Force Base performing testing in the area of battle damage repair of composites. In this role he managed all instructional and research laboratory facilities within the department; supervised department support and operations staff in technical, service, and academic areas; and provided all facility, safety, and equipment training.
In 2002 Bowling joined the Center for Innovative Technologies at Cincinnati State as Associate Dean. The Center includes eight academic departments in information and engineering technologies, offering majors in more than 27 technology fields. The Center has more than 2,000 students and more than 50 faculty and staff. As Associate Dean, he was responsible for hiring and supervising adjunct instructors, technical and managerial oversight to Lab Center operations¸ managing the Cincinnati State West (airport) campus, serving as liaison to the Workforce Development Center, and serving on numerous college committees. Recognition of his work includes the Greater Cincinnati Tech Prep Consortium Council Appreciation Award and The UC College of Engineering Educational Innovation Award.
“Doug was a natural choice for this job,’’ said Cincinnati State Academic Vice President Monica Posey. “We look forward to his leadership of this stellar division, while addressing future challenges and opportunities.”
