Earth Jam at Cincinnati State
April 30, 2009
Students, faculty members and industry partners gathered recently at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College for the 11th annual Toyota Environmental Earth Jam.
The event, held each year during Earth Week, was designed to promote environmental awareness. This year, wet weather forced the event indoors into the lobby of the Advanced Technology Learning Center.
In addition to enjoying green cotton candy and popcorn and listening to live music by The Seedy Seeds, participants visited information booths and engaged in hands-on activities focusing on local environmental issues and solutions.
Those who showed up wearing the 2009 Earth Day T-shirt received a free plant from the Environmental Club’s booth. The Horticulture Club sold plants at the event as well.
Industry partners included the Fernald Preserve, Split Rock Conservation Park, Ohio E.P.A., SWOWEA; Hamilton County Dept. of Environmental Services; Toyota, Rumpke Recycling and the Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District.
