news_112608_oestreicher.jpgMichael R. Oestreicher has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
Oestreicher, an attorney with the Thompson Hine law firm, has been a member of Cincinnati State’s governing board since 2004 and its vice-chairman since 2006. He was elected chairman by his fellow trustees during the board’s regular meeting Tuesday (Nov. 25).

Oestreicher succeeds Robert W. McKenna, Jr., as chairman. McKenna has held that title the past three years.

Board member Mark D. Walton, vice president and team lead (cq) of the Medical Services Group for Fifth Third Bank, was elected vice-chairman.

Board member Laurie Nippert Leonard will serve as secretary.

Oestreicher is a partner and member of the executive committee at Thompson Hine, one of the nation’s largest business law firms. An expert in international transactions and trade policy, he represents companies locating or expanding in the United States as well as American firms involved in investment, trade and policy matters abroad.

In February, 2006 Oestreicher was appointed to President Bush’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.

A graduate of Miami University and the Boston University School of Law, Oestreicher is also past president of the Isaac M. Wise Temple; an emeritus trustee of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and a member of the board of directors of Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati Inc.
