Autumn, Holiday Creations Cooking Classes Now On Sale At MCI
The Creations Cooking Classes at Cincinnati State’s Midwest Culinary Institute are back, with a focus this year on the upcoming holiday season.

Many of the classes are designed for members of the general public who have a serious interest in food – and some for novices who wish to start exploring the world of food preparation. Two classes are designed specifically for kids and families.

“We’ve gotten terrific response on the basic idea of these cooking classes,” said Joe Moss, executive director of the Midwest Culinary Institute. “Rather than just hear a talk or watch a demonstration, people like the idea of actually cooking something side by side with recognized culinary experts, in kitchens that are designed specifically for teaching.”

The Creations Cooking Classes, which are co-sponsored by MCI and Kroger, were put on hold in the spring and summer of 2013 to allow time for a review of the format and the range of offerings.

The result of that review was a new three-year contract between MCI and Kroger to renew and revive the program.

“What we had to do was bring the program back closer to its roots, and pare back some of the more esoteric offerings to keep it cost-effective,” Moss said.

The lineup of Creations Cooking offerings for autumn 2013 and the holiday season is focused on mainstream dinners and dishes for people who are planning to entertain. As before, the average cost for a class is about $65, with a low of $55 and a high of $85 for classes involving wine pairings and dinners.

All classes will include time for participants to enjoy their culinary efforts, as well as recipes to take home. Some, not all, include wine. Space is limited to 16 for most classes.

To register for a class, please call (513) 569-5800 or visit Creation Cooking Classes’ new online ordering system at www.midwestculinary.com . Gift certificates are available for all classes. Previously purchased Gift Certificates may be redeemed for all classes, but registration must be made by phone at (513) 569-5800. Classes and menus are subject to change.
