Curriculum review underway

(8/10/10) Cincinnati State's Academic Policies and Curriculum Committee (APCC) has begun review of semester courses and curricula. This is the first step in the process of helping students determine how the switch to semesters will impact their academic path. Review will be complete by December 2011, and updates and details will be available along the way.

Calendar recommendation presented to Board of Trustees

(6/22/10) Dr. Monica Posey, academic vice president, presented the Semester Transition Project's proposed semester calendar to the Board of Trustees at today's meeting. Dr. Posey summarized the report contained in the packet and asked for the Board to approve the calendar for semester conversion. Mrs. Leonard moved to accept the proposed semester conversion calendar and Mr. McKenna seconded the motion. In addition to the calendar information, the Board received an update on major transition tasks, budget information, the course and curriculum approval process, and the most frequently asked questions.

Semester Steering Committee reviews survey feedback

(4/12/10) The Semester Transition Project Steering Committee met today to review results of surveys recently completed by College students and staff. The feedback will shape the final calendar recommendation to be presented to the Board of Trustees. The Steering Committee also discussed cooperative education, budget, and committee membership.

Employees surveyed on calendar details

(3/31/10) Similar to the survey students received last week, Cincinnati State employees were asked for feedback regarding the issue of a scheduled break in the spring semester. As proposed, the semester calendar included a break in the middle of the spring semester; feedback at calendar information sessions indicated more input is needed.

Students surveyed on semester calendar

(3/26/20) Cincinnati State students received an email today linking to a video about the College's transition to semesters. The video explains the proposed calendar, and invites students to provide feedback via an online survey. One of the biggest questions about the new calendar is whether to include a traditional "spring break" in the spring semester, or use that time for a longer break between spring and summer semesters.

Steering Committee meets, plans

(3/15/10) The Semester Transition Project steering committee met and discussed the semester calendar, transition budget, technology and infrastructure needs, policies affected by the transition, and curriculum conversion, among other topics. The next Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for April 12.
