Cincinnati State Strategic Plan
Institutional Research and Effectiveness
Increase Student Success
We know that providing academic support systems and financial resources are keys to improving student success. Strategies for this goal include improving completion rates in high enrollment gatekeeper courses and increasing scholarship funding for first-time students. Research has shown us that the cost of tuition and the need to work while attending Cincinnati State are major factors in students’ decisions to withdraw. Scholarship recipients, however, have a four-fold increase in graduation rates.
Reduce the time it takes students to complete their required Academic Foundation Math courses
Increase the first-to-second year retention of first-time degree seeking
Increase the graduation rate for first-time, full-time degree seeking students
Increase the number of merit scholarships awarded to first-time, full-time degree seeking students during their first semester
Measures of Success
- Academic Math Foundation course completion
- Retention rate
- Graduation rate
- Number of merit scholarships awarded
