Grants

Pell Grants

Pell Grants are federal financial aid awarded to students with a proven financial need, who have not already earned a bachelor's degree.

The amount of grant money awarded depends on the student’s eligibility as determined by their FAFSA form, and how many credit hours they are enrolled in per semester.

Eligibility for a Pell Grant

The Pell Grant is renewable from year to year, but has a Lifetime Eligibility limit, which allows for up to 12 semesters of full-time tuition.

Students transferring to Cincinnati State who have used Pell Grant funds at another school should use the National Student Loan Database to check how much grant money they still have available. (Check before registering for classes.)

How to Apply for a Pell Grant

  • Complete the FAFSA form to be considered for a Pell Grant. Use school code 010345 for Cincinnati State.
  • Students who are awarded Pell Grants will be notified in their FAFSA student aid report.

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOGs) are awarded to students with exceptional financial need who are already eligible for a Pell Grant but need additional financial support to help pay for their education.

SEOG funds are limited each year and are distributed directly by Cincinnati State. Therefore, students should submit their FAFSA form by the February 15 priority deadline to have the best chance of being awarded a grant.
