Frequently Asked Questions:
When Should I apply for graduation?
You should apply for graduation by completing the Petition to Graduate eform no later than the first week of classes of your last semester. The best way to know when you should petition is to run a Degree Audit after you complete registration for what you believe is your last semester. If you see Program Status: Pending (Anticipated Complete) near the top of the first page, you should petition. See your advisor if it does not show Pending (Anticipated Complete) and you believe you are registering for your final classes.
Can I participate in the commencement ceremony?
These questions should be addressed with your Academic Advisor. Your Academic Advisor makes the determination as to when you have met all requirements and whether you are eligible to participate in the May ceremony.
You may participate in the ceremony if you will satisfactorily complete all requirements for an associate’s degree during or before the Spring semester immediately preceding commencement, or you can complete all remaining degree requirements during the Summer semester immediately following commencement. The ability to complete requirements in Summer semester is defined as needing no more than 15 credits, which may include the final cooperative education, clinical, or internship placement. If you are graduating in a certificate program you may participate in the ceremony if your certificate requires thirty (30) or more credits and you complete all requirements during or before the Spring semester immediately preceding commencement.
How do I sign up to walk at Commencement? If you are eligible to participate in Commencement (see above), you must complete the Intent to Participate in Commencement eform in MyServices under My Academic Planning. This form is available in MyServices at the beginning of the Spring semester.
I’m graduating at the end of Summer semester. What can I do?

What if I plan to continue enrollment at the College after I graduate?
It is very important that you complete a Double Major or Add-On Certificate/Degree form online at www.cincinnatistate.edu prior to graduation if you plan to continue enrollment the following semester. Your financial aid eligibility ends immediately after you graduate unless you are admitted to a new major. Failure to apply and be admitted to the new major before you graduate may result in a full semester of financial aid ineligibility.
Kentucky residents with tuition reciprocity will lose this eligibility effective with the semester following graduation unless they are enrolled effective with the next semester in a new major leading to an associate’s degree. Certificate programs are ineligible for Kentucky tuition reciprocity.
