Cincinnati State offers a variety of resources for international students. These resources ensure your academic and personal success while enrolled at Cincinnati State.
Academic & Co-op Advisors
Your academic advisor assists you with course selection to meet degree requirements. Your co-op advisor helps you with all aspects of co-op placement. It is important that you contact your academic division and meet with your advisors so they can help you plan your time at Cincinnati State and enable you to reach your career goals.

Academic Difficulties with a Class
If you do not understand the class material or experience other academic difficulties, you should seek help immediately:
- Contact your academic advisor
- Talk to your instructor
- Consult with the international student advisor
- Visit the Tutoring Center
Campus Recreational Facilities
A variety of recreational facilities are available for use by all students. They include a weight room, gym, fitness center, swimming pool, and locker rooms complete with saunas. All of these facilities are housed in the main building. The ATLC includes a game room, racquet ball courts, cyber café, open computer labs, TV room, reading room, student lounges, bakery, cafeteria, student meeting rooms and an auditorium. All of these are available for student use with a valid Cincinnati State SurgeCard.
Counseling Center
Cincinnati State’s Counseling Center maintains a professional staff to help students succeed. All sessions are confidential and free of charge to all current students. The Counseling Center is located in Room 168 Main Building.
The following services are provided by the counseling staff:
- Personal counseling
- Self-help materials
- Academic counseling
- Career services
- Crisis counseling

English as a Second Language (ESL)
The ESL program is designed to help non-native speakers of English improve their English proficiency through integrated skills courses including speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and grammar.
Cincinnati State offers support services for ESL students including placement testing and individualized help. Once students have successfully completed ESL programs, they may pursue a degree program.
International Student Office (ISO)
The ISO is located in Room 168, Main Building. Here you can get assistance with:
- Immigration regulations
- Housing information
- Health insurance information
- Travel abroad information
- International Student Association
- Income tax referrals
- Academic and personal advising
- Orientation programs
- Internal and external referral services
The ISO also assists with change of status requests and employment authorizations.

International Student Association
The International Student Association is a great way to get involved on campus. You may join the association anytime throughout the year to attend bi-weekly meetings and participate in cultural and social activities.
