UC Pathways

Easy transfer to UC

Cincinnati Pathways enables Cincinnati State graduates to easily transfer to the University of Cincinnati.

UC, our longtime partner, and Cincinnati State have created a convenient package of programs and services that provide seamless transfer to UC for Cincinnati State graduates with a specific cumulative grade point average (GPA). Cincinnati Pathways allows a student to take the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at Cincinnati State, and then transfer to UC as a junior.

Standard admission criteria

Cincinnati State students with a 2.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher who graduate with an associate’s degree will be granted admission into most programs at the University of Cincinnati, including programs from:

  • McMicken College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (except teacher education programs)
  • College of Business
  • College of Engineering and Applied Science
  • College of Allied Health Sciences

Selective programs

Cincinnati State students with a 3.4 cumulative GPA who graduate with an associate’s degree and meet additional criteria will be granted admission into programs from the following colleges, based on space availability:

  • College-Conservatory of Music
  • College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP)
  • College of Engineering and Applied Science
  • College of Nursing
  • Teacher education programs, College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services (CECH)

Auditions, portfolios, or other supplementary admission criteria may also be required for certain selective programs.

Financial assistance

Cincinnati State students who graduate with a 3.4 cumulative GPA and are admitted through Cincinnati Pathways will receive a University of Cincinnati Transfer Scholarship worth $2,100 for the first year and renewable for a second year if required academic progress and grade point average is achieved. In addition, UC waives the $50 application fee for qualifying students, making the Pathways program even more affordable.

Student advising for Cincinnati Pathways

Academic advising is available at both Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati to ensure maximum transferability for courses taken at Cincinnati State. Students interested in the Pathways program should speak with their advisor when they enter Cincinnati State to obtain further details and ensure maximum transferability and applicability of courses.
