How to Apply
Beginning January 1 of each year, students interested in receiving financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be completed for consideration of most federal student aid programs. Many states, including Ohio and Indiana, use the FAFSA to award state aid. Students who previously completed the FAFSA automatically receive a renewal FAFSA in subsequent years. The renewal FAFSA contains a summary of the information reported on the prior year’s FAFSA from the Department of Education.
Completing the FAFSA
Access the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Prior to completing the form, you must create a FSA ID. The FSA ID is a replacement to the Federal Student Aid PIN number. Go to FSA ID FAQ's for more information. You must provide the federal school code number for each school where you want your FAFSA results sent. The federal school code number for Cincinnati State is 010345.
Deadlines for FAFSA submission
Students are advised to apply to Cincinnati State and submit the FAFSA as early as possible to receive maximum consideration for financial aid. The College receives the results of each student’s FAFSA electronically about two weeks after submission.
To receive maximum consideration for certain programs, including the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), and Federal Work-Study (FWS), students should submit FAFSA forms by February 15th of each calendar year. Once an FAFSA is submitted, the submitting student will receive an email with a Student Aid Report (SAR). The student should keep all parts of the SAR. Any changes to a SAR should be submitted at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Notifications from Office of Financial Aid
If any further documentation is needed or their award is available, students will receive email notification from the Office of Financial Aid via MyServices on MyCState.
