Midwest Culinary Institute will host Chef Ming Tsai on Nov. 5

The Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State will host Iron Chef contender and Food Network host Ming Tsai on Friday, Nov. 5 

He will give a cooking demonstration at 2 p.m. in the demonstration kitchen auditorium at the Midwest Culinary Institute, located on the main campus of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. He will be assisted by Master Chef John Kinsella from the Midwest Culinary Institute.

Chef Ming will also autograph his new cookbook, “Simply Ming: One Pot Meals.’’ (Later, at 7 p.m. Friday, he will participate in a book signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Plaza.)

Chef Ming Tsai has said he believes there are four basic needs in everyday cooking today: taste, healthfulness, simplicity, and affordability. His cookbook addresses those issues while offering 85 recipes for one-pot cooking using healthy, relatively inexpensive ingredients.

Ming, the newest 2010 Iron Chef Contender, hosts and produces “Simply Ming’’ on the public television network. The show received two Emmy nominations in 2009. Ming began cooking on the Food Network; in 1998 he was the Emmy Award-Winning host of East Meets West with Ming Tsai and Ming’s Quest. Ming traveled to the 2008 Beijing Olympics with NBC’s Today show to provide viewers with insight into food customs and traditions. The Blue Ginger, located in the Boston suburb of Wellesley, Mass., is his nationally acclaimed restaurant.
