Kids & Teens In The Kitchen Summer Cooking Camps

The Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State announces “Kids & Teens In The Kitchen” Summer Cooking Camps for 2016.

There are two sets of Kids Camps for ages 8-12 and ages 13-17. Each one week, hands-on Kids Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The children will be met by a Camp counselor each day, then taken to the kitchens where the fun begins. The cost for the weeks class is $275 and includes a morning snack and lunch each day.

Kids Camp will be taught by Chef Kristen St. Clair, an MCI graduate, assisted by current MCI culinary students. Chef St. Clair has worked at Nectar Restaurant and Take the Cake, and was most recently the Executive Chef at Gabriel’s Place where she developed and implemented Jr. Chef, a three-tier summer culinary program for teens. Kristen’s food philosophy and instruction focuses on technique-based creative cooking, incorporating fresh seasonal ingredients whenever possible.

Learn knife skills, moist and dry heat cooking techniques, cooking with and without a recipe, planning a meal by color, texture and taste, and participate in a mystery basket competition.

Ages 8-12

July 11-15

Cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner while honing your knife skills. Learn to use what is local and seasonal, discovering the elements of design to take your food to the next level, and our course competition.

Ages 13-17
