Best In Class Experience For Private And Corporate Events
The Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State was born of a passion for excellent cuisine. We’re nurturing the careers of students who share that passion. Under the guidance of MCI’s expert instructors and its professional restaurant management team, students are preparing to realize their full potential.
The Summit Restaurant is where it all comes together. It’s more than a working classroom – it’s a celebration of the culinary arts. Staffed entirely by students under the direction of Executive Chef Sean Kagy, the Summit offers the opportunity to see tomorrow’s culinary stars as they are rising.

Your Vision — Your Event
The event planning team at the Summit is ready to create your event in the style you envision. Options range from formal four-course dinners (with seating for up to 110 guests) to casual dine-arounds that promote mingling for as many as 250 people. Click Here for our sample Hors d’oeuvre and Three Course Event Menu.
We can reserve space in our contemporary bar and lounge. Provide a podium and other equipment for a speaker. Arrange a chef-hosted presentation in our culinary demonstration auditorium. If you would like to build an event around great wines that complement great foods, we can do that as well. And for most events, we can arrange convenient valet parking.
Experienced Leadership — The Summit operates under the direction of executive chef Sean Kagy. A 1992 graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, he worked in Washington, D.C. and Chicago before coming to Cincinnati to work at the Maisonette under Jean Robert de Cavel. He later served as executive chef at the Cincinnatian Hotel and corporate chef for Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment.
5 Star Service — The Summit is a repeat recipient of OpenTable’s “Top 10” Service Award and its “Fit for Foodies” designation. The student staff, under the direction of Donna Schmitt, is trained to provide the highest level of service.
