Accounting Technology (ACCT)
Accounting Technology provides students with an understanding of accounting skills and knowledge of business fundamentals. Students enhance their skills through cooperative education. Students will attain a vast exposure to all facets of the accounting profession, including intermediate accounting, tax accounting, cost accounting, computerized accounting, and auditing. Upon graduation, students will have a variety of employment opportunities in the accounting field. For further advancement, many students elect to continue their education at an area college or university.
Graduates are prepared to:
- Analyze financial data from an annual report
- Assist in management decisions regarding cost-volume-profit analysis, cash flows, etc.
- Prepare income tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships
- Perform accounting duties related to the preparation of financial statements, both manual and computerized

The Accounting certificate program at Cincinnati State is for those who have earned a degree in a different discipline and need accounting courses in order to sit for the CPA exam, or who may need accounting courses for job promotion. This program is best suited for students currently employed in the accounting field. The certificate does not include cooperative education.

The Bookkeeping certificate is for individuals currently working in or returning to an office environment who want to learn additional skill sets to enhance job opportunities. The certificate focuses on bookkeeping, accounting, and computer skills and does not include cooperative education. Students may combine this certificate with an associate’s degree in other areas, including Office Management Technology and Medical Administrative Assistant.
