Cincinnati State unveils Spinning® program

The Health and Fitness Technology program (HFT) recently purchased 18 NXT Star Trac Bikes for the Spinning® program, the global leader in indoor cycling. The Spinning® program is a stationary indoor cycling program led by a certified instructor that burns an average of 500 calories for each 40 minute workout. The Spinning® program is unique in fitness programming since it allows each participant to exercise at a self-directed pace by wearing a heart rate monitor to measure intensity during class and allowing the participant to control the resistance knob on their individual bike. Spinning® is a comprehensive training program comprised of training sessions with a specific purpose designed to fit into a periodization schedule to meet a wide range of fitness levels from the beginner exerciser to fitness enthusiast to the avid athlete.

Spinning® will be offered at various times and additional sections will be added in Early Fall, 2009 to meet the demand of the busiest student and employee at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The Spinning® studio will be located across from the Fitness Center and will start Summer Term, 2009. The Spinning® program is part of the HFT Strategic Plan 2008-2011 to add new innovative physical education courses as electives for Cincinnati State students, staff, faculty, and community members.
