Surgical Technology offers First Assistant certificateThe Surgical Technical – First Assistant one-year certificate program prepares the Certified Surgical Technologist for an entry-level position in the first assistant role. This accelerated alternative delivery program provides formal educational preparation that enhances the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective behaviors necessary for a first assistant to function in a collaborative relationship with the perioperative team. The certificate includes supervised clinical practice that is individualized and self directed. Classes are offered in a combination of on-line and campus based formats. Cincinnati State unveils Spinning® programThe Health and Fitness Technology program (HFT) recently purchased 18 NXT Star Trac Bikes for the Spinning® program, the global leader in indoor cycling. The Spinning® program is a stationary indoor cycling program led by a certified instructor that burns an average of 500 calories for each 40 minute workout. The Spinning® program is unique in fitness programming since it allows each participant to exercise at a self-directed pace by wearing a heart rate monitor to measure intensity during class and allowing the participant to control the resistance knob on their individual bike. Spinning® is a comprehensive training program comprised of training sessions with a specific purpose designed to fit into a periodization schedule to meet a wide range of fitness levels from the beginner exerciser to fitness enthusiast to the avid athlete. Can you Zumba?Two new classes—Zumba and Meditation—are the latest offerings in Health and Fitness Technology. Zumba is designed for students with limited or no prior dance experience. The course will provide the students the opportunity to learn easy to follow dance moves fused with Latin music to create a dynamic fitness program. In Meditation, students learn a variety of styles and techniques of meditation, allowing them to develop a personal practice to suit their individual needs. Among the topics covered are the history and philosophy of meditation. Activities include guided and independent practice. |
