Employment Options

Graduates are prepared to:

  • Read blue prints and understand weld symbols per the AWS A2.4 standard.
    Gain Welding skills and qualifications related to the AWS SENSE program.
    Welding inspections skills.
    Welding fabrication and supervision skills.
    Job ready skills for the welding industry.
    Students will also gain other non-welding skills to enhance their education such as:
    Basic autocad design.
     Electronics, ohms law, etc.
    Basic machining.
    Materials engineering including metallurgy.

Graduate Starting Salary Projections

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average wage for welders in the occupation is $17.66 per hour, 2014. Some reports of lower and much higher wages have been reported depending on what type of welding occupation a student chooses.
The base salary range:
$34,500–$60,700 or more annually

Employment Outlook

The welding industry faces the challenge of replacing an aging workforce. Industry sources estimate that in the upcoming years, 50 percent of the welding industry workforce will be retiring. In addition, the need for highly skilled welders, inspectors, trainers and engineers will be paramount to the welding industry’s success in assuring sustainability of the nation’s welding field.
