Health Information Management (HIM)

The Health Information Management Technology program at Cincinnati State focuses on the maintenance of health care data and management of information resources. Health information management professionals collect, integrate, and analyze primary and secondary health care data, disseminate information, and manage information resources related to the research, planning, provision, payment, and evaluation of health care services. Graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
All of the HIM core program courses are offered Online. Some non-core courses must be completed on the main campus or at other Cincinnati State locations.
A survey of HIM associate degree graduates is conducted annually. Results of this survey revealed that 100% of the graduates who completed the survey were highly satisfied with the program. Graduates indicated that the program prepared them with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a HIM professional, and make informed decisions in the workplace.
An annual survey of employers is also performed. The results of this survey revealed that 100% of employers who completed the survey were highly satisfied with the quality of our HIM graduates. The employers indicated that graduates they have hired demonstrate the knowledge and technical skills necessary to perform their jobs, are able to think critically, problem solve, and function effectively as team members.
The HIM associate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
