Catalog Description
The Early Childhood certificate prepares students for entry-level positions in a variety of child care settings. Graduates are prepared to assist parents in meeting the physical, emotional, and maturational needs of children from infancy to age eight.
Program entrance requirements include a background check, ability to assist children in daily activities, a physical examination, and up-to-date immunizations.
Students who complete the certificate are eligible to apply for the Child Development Association (CDA) credential, awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. This credential is awarded to competent care providers and home providers who have demonstrated the ability to meet childrens’ needs.
