Honors Experience at Cincinnati State

Are you an academically talented, highly motivated student enrolled in a degree program at Cincinnati State? Then you are invited to apply for Honors Experience at Cincinnati State.
Students in Honors Experience participate in challenging coursework, close student-instructor interactions, and interdisciplinary and intercultural explorations. The goal: enabling qualified students to transfer to a senior institution or enter a professional field at a high level of ability by developing the leadership, creativity, and cognitive skills that foster lifelong career success.
Reach above and beyond academically, culturally, and socially.
As a student in Honors Experience, you will:
- Enroll in specially designed Honors courses, from English Composition and Psychology, to Anatomy and Physiology, Business Law, and others
- Learn with other outstanding and highly motivated students
- Work closely with highly supportive advisors and staff
- Participate in multi-disciplinary colloquiums designed to enhance analytical and creative thinking
- Supplement your studies with cultural and social activities on campus and in the Greater Cincinnati community
- Receive recognition at graduation and on your college transcripts as an Honors Experience participant
In addition, you will have priority registration for all classes and use of the Honors Study Room .
What’s more, if you are entering Honors Experience directly from high school, you may apply for an Honors Experience scholarship. The application is part of the Honors Experience application for current high school students and will be considered if received by March 1.
Do you qualify for Honors Experience?
Honors Experience at Cincinnati State is open to part-time and full-time degree-seeking students in all divisions who meet Honors Experience entrance criteria. Once admitted to a divisional degree program, you may apply for Honors Experience if your COMPASS™ placement test scores are at least 85 in writing, and at program level in Math.
- In addition, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- High school GPA of 3.25 or higher
- High school graduation ranking in the top 20%
- ACT score of 26 or above
- SAT score of 1140 (combined) or above
- 18 credit hours as a current student at Cincinnati State with a minimum 3.25 GPA
- 18 credit hours as a transfer student with a minimum 3.25 GPA
You will be considered for admission to Honors Experience if you meet the qualification criteria and submit a completed application, including a personal essay, along with two letters of recommendation. If you are not currently a high school student, complete and submit an Honors Experience application.
Apply for an Honors Experience scholarship.
You can apply for an Honors Experience scholarship if you are accepted into Honors Experience and are entering the program directly from high school. The Honors Experience Scholarship has its own application, separate from the general Cincinnati State scholarship application. However, you must also apply for other Cincinnati State scholarships, using the application in the Admission brochure. The deadline for application is March 1.
