What is Counseling?

Counseling is a relationship with a person who is professionally trained to help discuss concerns in a way that clarifies thoughts and feelings. This helping relationship is a growth process through which individuals are helped to define goals, make decisions, and solve problems related to personal-social, educational, and career concerns.

Where is the Counseling Center Located?

The Advising and Counseling Center is located on the first floor of the Main Building, Room 168.

What are the Office Hours?

8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Monday and Wednesday

8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

Who Is Eligible for Counseling Services?

Mental Health and personal counseling services are free of charge to enrolled students.

Career Counseling is open to enrolled and potential students of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.  Individual personal counseling services are not available to faculty and staff. Please contact the Office of Human Resource Services to find out about personal counseling offered through the College‚Äôs Employee Assistance Program. Faculty and staff are, however, eligible for consultation services provided by the counseling staff.

How do I Make an Appointment for Counseling Services?

The Counseling Office generally operates on an appointment basis. Students who want an initial meeting with a counselor should call the Counseling Office at (513) 569-5779 or stop by Room 168 to schedule an appointment.

Who Provides Counseling Services?

The staff consists of full-time and adjunct licensed mental health professionals.

What About Confidentiality?

What a student discusses with a counselor is kept completely confidential within counseling services and with the exception of foreseeable harm to self (student) or others.   A student can also choose to sign a release of information form in order to allow the counselor to disclose confidential information to a third party.
