Cincinnati State’s Workforce Development Center celebrated its new partnership with CBT and Rockwell Automation with a brief ceremony that capped a crowded product and training show at the College’s Evendale campus.

“We understand that investing in employees brings big returns in the long run for all of us,’’ said Dr. John Henderson, the interim president of Cincinnati State and one of the three executives on hand for the event.

Joining him for the ceremony were James Stahl, Jr., President of CBT and Mike Gaffney, Cleveland District Services Manager for Rockwell Automation.

Dr. Henderson and his corporate counterparts from Rockwell and CBT described their partnership as an example of how higher education can effectively help the private sector prepare individuals for jobs in the new economy.

Rockwell Automation, a multi-national corporation, is a leading designer and manufacturer of equipment used to control industrial processes.

CBT, based in Cincinnati, is a regional supplier of industrial automation products and is a distributor for Rockwell Automation products and services.

The partnership, which began in October, combines the Workforce Development Center’s expansive industrial maintenance course offerings and accessible campus with Rockwell Automation’s leading edge technology and industrial product training.

Students can earn college credit from Rockwell Automation instructors, using Rockwell Automation equipment and award-winning student materials designed by Rockwell Automation instructional developers. At the same time, they have access to the more generalized industrial maintenance training offered through the regular WDC classes.

“It’s a great match,’’ said Larry Cherveny, a business manager at the WDC. “It’s going to drive more business to the WDC, and it gives Rockwell Automation access to a well-established industrial maintenance training center. We’ve got a package here that no one else has.’’

The ribbon cutting ceremony, held in the auditorium at the Evendale campus, capped a product and training show for customers and guests of CBT, Rockwell and the WDC.
