The target audience for this training program includes:

  • Electrical maintenance technicians seeking to obtain Controls and Instrumentation skills and possibly ISA CCST certification
  • Companies seeking to improve the skills of their electrical maintenance employees
  • Companies with electrical maintenance apprentice programs

Course Description

A 25 week, 184-hour training program designed by ISA certified controls experts, for individuals with basic electrical maintenance experience seeking advancement as an industrial controls technician. Students gain working knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting experience in electrical controls, sensors, variable frequency drives, DMCS systems, controller tuning, and calibrations.. Extensive hands-on training is provided in the industrial controls labs and in the operational process pilot plant. Students receive preparation for the ISA Certified Control Systems Technician exam.

Course Objectives

Help students gain an understanding of:

  • The basics of the process measurements: Temperature, Pressure, Level, Flow and some of the analytical measurements
  • Calibration, set-up and wiring of various transmitters and final control elements (valves and variable frequency drives)
  • The basics of process control and the role of each key component: measurement/transmitters, controller, and final control element
  • The basics of various controls strategy , including feedback, PID algorithms, controllers tuning, cascade and feed forward control
  • Monitor and control the tank farm process through, lab exercises that use Rockwell's Controlling and Panel-view

Course Features

  • This course prepares an individual to sit for the NIMS certification exam
