On Thursday, June 15, the Surge Cupboard Student Food Pantry held its first Farmer’s Market event, providing free produce to any registered Cincinnati State student.
The inaugural Farmer’s Market handed out 1,100 pounds of free produce to 65 students.
The Farmer's Market is the result of a partnership between the Freestore Foodbank and the Surge Cupboard. The Freestore will deliver free produce each month for distribution to students, at no cost to the College or to the Surge Cupboard.
Farmer's Market events will take place on the third Thursday of each month, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The Market will close earlier if all produce is gone.
The next Farmer's Market will be July 20. The Market location will be outside the ATLC (weather permitting), or in the ATLC First Floor Student Lounge.
